History

The state of Kentucky is known for producing the top thoroughbred race horses in the country, and Ali Ahmadi, the founder and director of Javanon Soccer Club, is hoping to achieve a similar reputation for his youth soccer players. When asked about the meaning of Javanon, Ahmadi explains " "Javanon" means Youth in Farsi, which is the native tongue of Iran, the country where I was born. Javanon is also the name of the organization in Iran where the country's top youth players represent their country. It can be liked to the National Olympic Development Program here in the USA. I learned that a player needs God-given talent and "touch", combined with the discipline of working hard and a passion for the game in order to reach the highest level of competition. This is stressed to players throughout their involvement with Javanon, and so far has proven successful."

Success might be a moderate word when describing the phenomenal growth of Javanon Soccer Club. Today Javanon is made up of more than 20 teams of boys and girls ages U-9 through U-19. In 1989 youth soccer was just beginning to establish itself in Kentucky, with only a few clubs in the entire state. The indoor professional team "Louisville Thunder" was based in Louisville, where Ahmadi was director of operations. When the Thunder folded, Ahmadi took a group of young boys who had been training at the Thunder's facility and continued practicing outdoors. Each season he formed a new team. Within a few years Javanon grew to a multiple of teams. The club's teams quickly gained notoriety as an "entertaining group of soccer players with a special flair, which was very pleasant to watch".

The success of the club can be measured in many ways including the success of former Javanon players as they continue to develop into leaders in the community. On the field the success Javanon has enjoyed is unprecedented in the State of Kentucky. With multiple national championships and even more regional championships, Javanon teams have exemplified excellence on the field.

The future is bright with significant investments being made to open an indoor training facility in early 2008. This facility will provide a home for Javanon players even after their playing days are over. With the addition on outdoor fields later in 2008 and 2009, this will be an excellent venue for all Javanon teams for years to come.
