Great Week at Dallas Cup....4-1-1 for the tournament!
Only loss was to tournament finalist in final seconds of the match

Monday: Javanon 0 Austin United Capitals 1
With windy conditions providing a difficult environment to build a controlled attack, AU Capitals (Texas South State Champions) put several strong attacks on goal in the first half only to be stopped by goalkeeper JC Cotton. The second half was fully controlled by Javanon with multiple outstanding opportunities that did not find the net. Kyle Shickel, Tony Wilbar and Nate Driggers created good scoring opportunities. In the final minute of play, Darrell Cantu-Harkless (AU Capitals) broke loose in a counter-attack. Cantu-Harkless appeared to be contained by Paul Althoff but after a collision with Althoff and Cotton, he was able to get a foot on the ball to slowly roll it into the goal for a heartbreaking finish to a well played match by both sides.
Tuesday: Javanon 2 El Dorado United Crew 1
Goals by Ryan Garvey and Kyle Richard were enough to hold off the Region IV champions. Garvey's goal was a volley out of the air from a perfectly delivered corner kick from Alex Oeswein. Timmy Shain effectively screened the keeper to prevent a solid play on the laser just inside the post. The second goal came off a restart from 45 yards out. Kyle Shickel received the ball and brought it into a dangerous position in the box. Initially looking for the shot, he drew a defender and pushed the ball to Richard who finished with a one time shot to the back of the net.
Outstanding defense of a very strong and skilled EDU Crew attack kept EDU under control most of the day. Several dangerous attacks late kept the outcome in doubt until the final whistle. EDU's excellent national team players, Ade Akinsanya and Amobi Okugo created chances throughout the day. Turner Uligian provided a solid defensive effort on Akinsanya and did not allow him to earn a clean shot on goal. Javanon nearly put the game out of reach with several well played attacks that were thwarted with a physical defensive effort from EDU Crew. A great match was only compromised by the extremely windy conditions.

Wednesday: Javanon 1 vs CF Regios (Mex) 1

Beautiful field and weather conditions greeted two Group G teams battling for the opportunity to advance. CF Regios controlled play in the opening minutes with a couple scoring opportunities that could not be put on frame. Javanon then started controlling the ball with great team play moving the ball effectively. This created two perfectly set opportunities in the middle of the half but were unable to finish. Javanon then found the net, only to be called back due to a properly made off-sides call. As the end of the half approached a nicely placed through ball was delivered from Kyle Richard to Kyle Shickel. Shickel broke loose into the box and was taken down. He successfully converted the ensuing penalty kick to put Javanon up 1-0 at the half.

The second half opened with an almost immediate scoring chance from CF Regios that Javanon goalkeeper JC Cotton stopped. CF Regios continued to mount pressure throughout the half with both Yahir De Jesus Alfaro and Enrique Napoles providing offensive firepower. The Javanon team had difficulty recognizing and adjusting to CF Regios one touch long ball style of play. Javanon created multiple counter opportunities and nearly placed a close range shot from Ryan Garvey into the net, but a fantastic save by the CF Regios goalkeeper kept the game close. The high work rate of the CF Regios team continued late in the game. Nevertheless it looked like Javanon would come out with a win until Edgar Treto ran with a CF Regios defensive stop acrosss midfield and put a high ball inside the 18. Alfaro cleanly played the ball out of the air and past the outstretched arms of the Javanon goalkeeper to even the score with only 2 minutes remaining. One last offensive push by Javanon in the box and a restart from 22 yards out nearly pulled the game out, but being unable to find the net the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

CF Regios ended the tournament without a loss, but with 3 ties. Javanon ends with a 1-1-1 record one point behind AU Capitals that advance to face FC Delco in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

Thursday: Javanon 3 vs Solar (TX) 2

Tony Wilbar started the scoring off a rebounded shot from Kyle Shickel in the first half. Solar built a strong and quick attack to even the score at 1-1 at the half. Javanon brought new energy into the second half and took the lead 2-1 on nicely finished ball by Alex Oeswein as he broke to the goal from the outside. Solar's quickness continued to create chances but the Javanon defense held during a more physical second half of play. The Solar team demonstrating they are worthy of their national ranking countered with a 20 yard shot that curled and bounced once into the goal to even the score once again.

Late in the game, Javanon coach Joe Williams decided to put his two speedsters up top to create an opportunity for a winning goal. It did not take long for this strategy to pay off. Turner U. broke loose and beat his defender at the end line with a nice move and cleanly played a ball across the box to Paul Althoff whose one time finish in the back of the net proved to be the winning goal.
